Course Description

This course bridges the gap between creating beautiful assets (which many can do) and optimized game environments (which leads to top jobs). You will go from pre-production to modeling, texturing and in-game integration using the latest techniques. Specifically, you will learn efficient workflow, creating assets with re-usability and easy variations (essential for games). By the end, you will have a portfolio-worthy game scene with architectural assets and vegetation in UDK (the industry standard game editor) using advanced shaders and dynamic lighting. Prior experience with 3D required; laptop optional.

 

About the teacher

Vlad Dergachov has over 5 years of experience, working on numerous engines, platforms (360, PC, PS3, iPhone, Wii and DS) and franchises (most recently Need for Speed and Thief). He has won numerous prestigious awards such as a first prize in the international game art competition Unearthly Challenge. He is a passionate teacher, having taught over the last three years at institutions in Canada and in China.
